Front Door Directory - a two-sided community platform in four weeks

A two-sided platform serving business owners and community members at once - free job board, geolocation directory, and tiered services - from concept to live in four weeks.

The problem

Front Door Directory needed a platform that could serve two audiences at the same time: owners looking to get listed, post jobs, and reach customers, and community members looking to discover nearby businesses and find flexible work. That meant a single build had to carry a geolocation-aware directory, a zero-friction job board, tiered service signup, and authentication for both sides - none of it off-the-shelf.

What I built

I built it on Next.js with the App Router so the location-based directory pages could be both fast and indexable. The directory detects a visitor's city on arrival and renders dedicated pages per market. The job board takes postings with no fee and no credit card. Three service tiers each signpost a clear outcome, with self-service signup. Organization, WebPage, and FAQPage schema went in from the start so search engines and AI assistants can read exactly what the platform does.

The outcome

The platform launched in four weeks, ready to accept business listings and job postings from day one - a single codebase carrying two audiences, a directory, a job board, and a paid-tier funnel without feeling stitched together.
